FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
MOMS To Retire The Mission
From
Operation MOMS Cookies Inc., NFP grassroots beginning in the spring of 2002, to the completion of our current shipment to
our deployed Military men and women far from home for the holiday, it is with the deepest passion and honor, the spirits of
thousands of heroes have once again been lifted.
It
has been this organizations great pleasure to be entrusted with our communities faith and individual contributions, using
each as designated, show casing the support and caring of many. Corporate America's
generosity in strong support of our troops, invested thousands of volunteer hours, needed quality product and Corporate Grants,
allowing MOMS to grow significantly in quality and quantity of services provided. With
the overwhelming gifts this holiday season of UPS, Frito Lay, Bigelow Tea, Target,
the Staff of ERS of Oak Brook, LaGrange Kiwanis, Three Rivers Association of Realtors,
Freakster's Roadhouse and the Wilmington/Morris Lions Club, more than
1,350 of MOMS "Boxes of Home" filled with gratitude and support have been shipped over the last 5 weeks for Christmas at a
cost of $21,600, carrying more than $180,00.00 of needs, creature comforts and
Holiday smiles from the many in "our little corner of the world".
MOMS
Mission to promote patriotism, community activism and encourage
the human spirit has reached youth to community based groups of all ages, creating a network of boots on the ground here on
the home front, forwarding their direct support. With growth came challenges,
and each were met with passion and determination. With our Troops joyous return
from Iraq last year, came the realization
there were greater needs that became very apparent and still today overlooked. From
the highly successful Single Soldier Project began in January, made possible with the overwhelming support of our Corporate
partners, United Parcel Service, Girl Scouts and Schneider Logistics, we assumed the responsibility and began advocating for
the many needs of our Service Members here at home, their families, our wounded and our Veterans. Local wounded Heroes have benefitted greatly from the support of MOMS Marc Olson Fund and the generous
and always immediate assistance of the Disabled Patriot Fund serving Illinois Military.
MOMS has assisted military families during the aftermath of tragedy, while reaching out with aid and assistance to
returning service members.
As
a very difficult and personal decision was made by MOMS founders, Debbie and Joe Trippiedi, to not accept a third term on
the Executive Board, an analysis of MOMS Mission and a transition
plan was initiated. With outreach to many, to include those expertise in the
Charity profession, our Advisory Board and Volunteers, the consensus was unanimous that this Mission had been fulfilled many times over. In
these uncertain economic times the burden would be to great for the existing volunteer Board and volunteer base to absorb
the additional responsibilities. In order to continue on the current course,
we would have to explore the possibility of transitioning to paid administrative staff.
MOMS has always been a 100% volunteer organization, With this in mind
and with heavy hearts, the votes were cast and unanimous to retire the Mission of Operation MOMS Cookies Inc., NFP.
As
we do each year, our staff breaks for the Christmas Holiday beginning December 14th through January 6th, having spent more
than 2,500 volunteer hours in preparation and processing of the holiday shipment over a period of 5 weeks. We will return on the 6th to process our final shipment of all product on hand to be complete by January
16th with the retirement of colors and the Mission of MOMS on January 20, 2012.
We
would like to reaffirm our deep gratitude to the many patriots whom have made this humble Mission of honor and love possible
with their continuous and generous support, but most importantly for the immense impact made, support and respect brought
to hundreds of thousands of our beloved Military men and women over these many years as they have given and continue this
day in dedicated, selfless and constant service here on the home front and across the globe.
They are forever in our hearts and prayers.
From
all at Operation MOMS Cookies, Inc. NFP, Peace, Joy and Love with our best wishes for a joyous, healthy and prosperous 2013!
